Problem solved! The plunger rod in the overdrive s0lenoid was binding
inside the solenoid when the solenoid was bolted down snugly. Loosening the
bolts
holding the solenoid a few turns and putting a light coat of grease on the
plunger rod allowed the plunger rod to fall away from the solenoid once the OD
switch was toggled off. Just returned from a nice evening drive flipping
the OD on and off successfully and enjoying every minute of it.
