Just remember how the cars were built originally. The entire rear clip
including the rear floors and transmission tunnel was dropped onto the ladder
frame in one piece. The inner floor sections were already attached to the
frame.
So to answer your question. The rear floor lays on top of the heal board
lip and on top of the transmission tunnel lip. The front section of the
transmission tunnel is on top of the inner floors.
This also explans why the sills are in two pieces. The entire
superstructure, both front and rear, is jigged and welded up and dropped over
the frame.
At that point the two become one until the tin worm tries to return it to
ore....
