Well, ok ... generator in car, mounted on engine .. positive ground
 cars ...

remove both (all) leads from generator .. one terminal is marked 'F'
 for field
the other one is marked 'D' for dynamo (?) anyway, with all leads
 removed from
generator, take a suitable wire and connect from 'D' terminal to the
 negative terminal
on the battery ... If you have the drive belt removed, the generator
 should "motor" ie
act like a slow, very low power motor ... Thats it .. On the bench,
 just connect a wire
from the positive terminal of the battery to the housing of the
 generator, then connect
another wire to the 'D' terminal and the negative terminal of the
 battery .. You don't
need to maintain these connections for any length of time. Just a
 second or so..

    Hope this helps ..
    ttfn, Jim
