Try buying a relay that is listed as supporting the amount of power you
plan on putting through it.
The relays on the shelf (usually in kit form with wires and a switch)
are usually marked "For Off road use" or "for high powered lamps"
should work just fine.
I'm using one of those and it's been fine for about 7 years now.
