coincidence

Hi everybody,
The car is running fine, so I decided to not leave well enough alone, I,
LIGHTLY, lubed area's in the distributor with a very light 20 wt oil, (I
know, I was too lazy to find the right oil), took the car for a spin for
about 10 minutes then the engine died, cranks like no spark,  Oil
shorted the points? I swear, I used a pin head  amount of oil on the
required areas, I did not lube the cam  Coincidence?.
