Since it is a temporary solution I would take the nut that holds the tube on on the end of the steering box, which you will have removed anyway, cut a piece an old innertube or gasket material into a round piece to insert in the nut, and put the nut back on amd finger tighten or maybe a little more, should give a decent temporary seal with minimal time or expense.
