Amen to that--what a piece of junk!
On both my 100 and my wife's BN7 I have replaced the stock switch with a
waterproof marine unit made by Aquasignal. It is similar to the one sold in
the
Moss catalogue in that it has a removable red key, but it is flush-mounted
rather than surface-mounted and works in the existing hole with a little
relieving
(though I moved it to a different location than stock on my 100 to make for
easier access). It is available at any good marine store such as West. It is
essentially a SPDT switch with a high ampere rating and will not handle the
coil grounding circuit, which is just another accident waiting to happen and
should IMHO be done away with.
While you're in there consider increasing the size of your battery cables ....
