Hi Sid,
I would say that, despite your use of Grose jets you still have a
problem with the fuel supply to the float chambers not shutting off.
This can be caused by several different things. The most likely is
grunge in the Grose jets preventing them from sealing properly.
Sometimes tapping on the float chamber top with the plastic handle of a
screwdriver will resolve this.
Others are, a leaking float which is not floating properly, some kind of
obstruction preventing the float from coming up, grossly incorrect float
settings, blockage of the float chamber overflows, excessive fuel
pressure.
If you remove the suction chambers from the carbs and lift out the carb
piston no fuel should run out of the main carb jet with the fuel pump
turned on. If fuel does come out then one of the preceding is most
likely the cause.

Subject: Fuel problems
Help.
Still trying to get BJ8 27368 running. Rebuilt su HD8's with grose
jets.
Have spark etc. Have new solid state su fuel pump. Problem is fuel is
filling intake manifold and running out overflow lines to floor. Fuel
is not
coming out float bowl overflow lines. Major backfiring but wont start.
Any
suggestions?
Thanks,
Sid
