I'm not sure about that spec, .005-.007 proud is for stock gaskets, I use =
.002-.003 for the steel shim gasket, which is all that I use on the race en=
gines.Any more than .003 & the head won't clamp down good around the oil & =
water passages, at least that's been my experience.Merry Christmas!!!

The composite gasket can not be cut back.
The steel shim gasket can -and must be cut back as you describe.=C2=A0 Best=
to err on the side of taking too much off rather then not enough. We have =
had good luck using (and re-using) these with Hylomar.=C2=A0 The cylinder l=
iners should protrude above the block .005 to .007 or the seal will be =E2=
=80=9Ciffy.=E2=80=9D
