Some notes from a common man:
I=E2=80=99ve been hanging around race tracks for my whole life.=20
I have attended this event almost every year for about 25 years.=20
This race weekend that has been selected for our tiny cars is something uniq=
ue.
This, my friends, is a showcase of the best.
And somehow we are the chosen featured Marque.=20
Frankly, it is an event featuring excess and awesomeness...
Richness, beauty and spectacle.=20
To have The Great unwashed...
Welcomed and featured.

The amount of spectators and auto enthusiasts that show up to Road America f=
or the Hawk(Previously) Chicago Historics (previously) and the (now named) W=
eathertech International Challenge... number in the many thousands.
The grandstands are full.=20
The paddock is full.=20
There are downtown race car parades and car shows for which the beautiful to=
wn of Elkhart Lake becomes something very special.=20
There are Showers of champagne for the podium elite; And Loral wreaths and t=
rophy=E2=80=99s are handed out by racing legends.
As a life long Triumph guy... being showcased at this event means we have so=
mehow Reached the big time.=20
Open yourself up to the fact that this is no regional event. This is not a c=
lub event.
This is big.
Now of course Most of the fans will be cheering for me.=20
But you too have a chance at epic glory.=20

f R.W. =E2=80=9CKas=E2=80=9D Kastner who passed away on April 11, 2021 at th=
e age of 92. Kas Kastner was one of the most influential individuals respons=
ible for the racing success of Triumph sports cars from the late 1950=E2=80=99=
s through 1970 and beyond. To this day, his series of Competition Preparatio=
n Manuals are a must read for competitors in Triumph sports cars. Later in h=
is career, Kastner directed the Nissan IMSA GTP team that won the manufactur=
ers=E2=80=99 championship three years in a row and the drivers=E2=80=99 cham=
pionship four years in a row; a remarkable achievement.

022 Kastner Cup it is worth mentioning the PIR race maintained the familiar q=
uality of all previous 19 Kastner Cups; a competitive family reunion bringin=
g in Triumphs and drivers from the United States, Canada, and Germany. A bi=
g thanks to Curt Johnston for carrying on the legacy over the past 2 seasons=
for both the events at Portland International Raceway and Pittsburgh Intern=
ational Raceway. Curt has not only maintained the legacy and spirit of the K=
astner Cup but has also improved operational processes along the way.

> Speaking of last year=E2=80=99s Portland Kastner Cup=E2=80=A6 conversation=
s yielded a common theme with many drivers expressing the idea of Road Amer=
ica as the 2023 location of choice. Getting the Kastner Cup back to the cen=
trally located, storied, beautiful=E2=80=A6.and very fast venue of Road Amer=
ica made complete sense. 2023 will mark a full 10 years since the Kastner C=
up was last held at Road America. The event in 2013 resulted in an incredi=
ble grid of 36 cars, consisting of four TR3s, thirteen TR4s, two TR4As, two T=
R250s (including the famous Peter Brock and Kas Kastner created TR250K), thr=
ee TR6s, four Spitfires, four GT6s, a TR8, a Peyote MKII Special, a Devin bo=
died TR4, and a TVR 2200S. Solid evidence indicates we will have an even gr=
eater turn-out in 2023 to include many of the usual and important suspects f=
rom both coasts, across the US and Canada. Moreover, we are currently coord=
inating efforts for drivers and/or cars from the UK, Germany, and Australia!=

> We are excited to announce Brian Garcia=E2=80=99s return as a Kastner Cup C=
o-Chair for the 2023 event! Brian Garcia was the Event Chair for the 2017 K=
astner Cup at Blackhawk Farms Raceway. A self-proclaimed =E2=80=9CFriend of=
a Friend of Triumph=E2=80=9D, Brian got involved with Triumphs crewing for J=
ason Ostrowski=E2=80=99s Friendly Ghost Racing GT6 in 2011. The following y=
ear, he attended his first Kastner Cup at Road Atlanta and instantly liked t=
he camaraderie he found in the FOT paddock. He earned his nomination to FOT=
the following year at the Road America Kastner Cup after leading Christian M=
arx and Peter Bulkowski on a scavenger hunt around Sheboygan County looking f=
or parts to fix Peter=E2=80=99s (now Christian=E2=80=99s) TR8 which ultimate=
ly led to a colorful but happy ending. Buy him a beer at the Cup next year a=
nd he=E2=80=99ll gladly retell the story.=20

> Brian actively campaigns a 1965 Cheetah Roadster and a 1967 Plymouth Barra=
cuda in Vintage Racing events and hopes to have both of them at Road America=
next July to keep him busy in between Kastner Cup duties. He finally was a=
