black. Over the years I have confirmed=0Athat there were very rare case=
s of frames being painted with body=0Acolored paint ( Powder Blue, Signa=
l Red, BRG the three colors I have=0Adocumented, now with this thread ha=
ve Sebring White and Pale Yellow=0Aadded to the list). They are found on=
later TR3A cars for the most=0Apart ( the 57 listed below is the earlie=
st one I know of). One other=0Astrange thing is that the frames that wer=
e painted with body paint=0Awere not used on a matching body color car.=
Black Cars with Powder=0ABlue or Red frames, BRG with Red, Red with Pow=
der Blue, etc. Not=0Aexactly color coordinated, why they did not match t=
hem up is unknown.=0AWhy they painted them with body paint is also unkno=
wn, as the frames=0Acame in from a seperate plant area painted and ready=
for assembly. The=0Abodies came in from Mulliners completely assembled=
and painted. So the=0Atwo assemblies were never painted in the same ass=
embly plant? =0A The above was documented from original owner cars, high=
ly original=0Acars that had fully documented history and original cars t=
hat when=0Aseparating the body from the frame for the first time, found=
original=0Apaint on the top side of the frame, untouched from the facto=
ry. If you=0Aare restoring a car in this category document your findings=
for future=0Areference is highly recommended. =0A I do not think that=
all of them came about because of show or race=0Acar use, but was done=
on ordinary cars during assembly. Off and on=0Afrom 1957 thru 1960, not=
just one time period or batch. =0A It did happen, how many, for what re=

rom the competitions department=0Awho tended to paint some Chassis white=
(not all by any means) so that=0Acracks could be seen easily. This flow=
ed into the TR4 programme, where=0Aeach of the four cars alway ran on wh=

est use just by looking at the 57 and=0A58 records and the cars pictured=
and my car, which had nice chrome=0Abits everywhere but was also clearl=
y nicely prepped at one time.=0AOther at Earls Court that year were two=
shiny white 3a=E2=80=99s and a=0Awhite rolling chassis. The red Glasgow=
and Geneva car Registered=0A3SMC looks to have a white chassis from the=
period B&W pics.=0ACould be all wrong of course.</div>=0A<div><br c=
lear=3D"none"></div>=0A<div>The other white chassis cars were from the c=
ompetitions=0Adepartment who tended to paint some Chassis white (not all=
by any=0Ameans) so that cracks could be seen easily. This flowed into t=
he=0ATR4 programme, where each of the four cars alway ran on white=0Acha=
