Hello Friends,
Well, I finally got down to editing some race videos and I'd like to share them
with you.

Last weekend, CSRG held their 14th Annual Charity Challenge. I ran a couple
practice sessions on Friday and along with warm-up races, qualifying and the
feature race of Saturday and Sunday, I signed up once again to give lunch time
charity rides both days too.
I ran the hell out of the car.
I had a great qualifying race with a '58 Speedster and others on Saturday. My
group raced at 4:45. This late afternoon schedule comes with the added
difficulty of the glaring sun on the uphill approach to turn two and 3A. I
still have the black electrical tape on my face shield from my first ever race
in 2013.
Once I finally got by the Speedster, I began to catch up to the next group of
cars. Man, if there had been a couple more laps. I qualified 13th of 45.
The Speedster driver has owned the car for 40 years and raced it for the first
30 before taking the next 8 years off. He was exciting to watch from my
perspective. The video show his excellent driving skills. We had a nice meeting
after the race.

Sunday's race was held in extremely difficult conditions. In the previous
formula car race, a Formula Atlantic completely oiled the track for two laps.
My race was delayed for over 30 minutes as they tried to clean up the track. I
could see the back half of the course from the grid and the tractor sweeper
left a big thick line of oil-dry down. I thought he should make another pass,
but no. I considered not racing. Then, about 8 to 10 car behind me pulled off
the grid. They had us do two warm-up laps to test the track condition and
dissipate the oil-dry. A few more cars exited the track.
What a mess! I wished I had taken the time on the grid to put air filters on
the car.
The whole race was like driving in a sand storm. I had to reach up twice on the
main straight to wipe the windscreen with my gloved hand. I couldn't see
anything through it with the glaring sun. Horrible...but intense and exciting
too. It'll take all winter to get the car clean.

I had my best finish of 7th in this my 11th race.

Please enjoy the videos.
