Tim,
I've found the same with my balancer (with steel and alloy =
wheels, I've not tried wires). Narrow wheels (4.5-5.5") balance much =
easier with a single plane balance. I assume it's because the two =
planes are not distanced apart enough.

I got lucky with my balancer and could just use one of the cones and the =
large =E2=80=9CT-nut=E2=80=9D which mated up with the OD of the spline =
tube perfectly.
