I have been watching the discussion about the zinc content in racing oil, and
the high regard that many have for Brad-Penn. I am not a stock holder in the
Brad-Penn refinery, but surely could be. I grew up, literally, in the shadow
of the Kendall Refinery. That refinery is now the Brad-Penn refinery, as Irv
Korey has stated. The "Brad" comes from the town where the refinery is
located - Bradford, PA. I lived less than 1/4 mile from the refinery. The
street that runs along one side of the refinery is Kendall Ave. I walked that
street four times each day going to and from Grade School. My father-in-law
was an independent oil producer and some of his wells were within the area of
what we called a tank farm, belonging to the Kendall Refinery. My sister
(during the second world war) worked in the control lab. One of my cousins
worked, for a number of years, in the packing plant office, and a good friend,
Bruce Klussman, was in charge of the racing promotion program when it was
still Kendall. I still have connections that I can refer to, but it sounds
like the ones interested are getting all the information that is needed. So,
you can see why the recent discussion is of particular interest to me.
