Amici Triumphi...
Burt Levy is busy beating the bushes and trying to raise enough money to
get another book published (in his Last Open Road series). In the real world
books about motorsports have a very limited market. Burt has to 'self
publish in order to get er done'. That takes money, which he raises by selling
ads in an entertaining section of his books that mimics the ads in period
motorsports magazines. Recall that we (the FOT) have purchased such ads in the
past.
Burt started his racing career in a ratty looking TR3. He proudly
considers himself a member of the TRIUMPH community. His second book
(Montezuma's
Ferrari) was dedicated to our own Mike Belfer (Steve Belfer's dad, and my
mentor). Now he, on his own, has decided to remember Jack Drews in the new
book. That's a done deal and will happen whether or not he gets any funds from
the FOT. I appreciate Burt's remembering Uncle Jack. As such, I've
already sent Burt a contribution to help publish the new book.
NO PRESSURE, but I encourage all of you, but especially if you were
particularly close to Jack Drews, to consider doing the same. It does not have
to
be a big number. If you choose to do so, send your check payable to Think
Fast Ink, 1010 Lake Street, Oak Park, Illinois, 60301.

PS Oh yeah...Burt told me to tell you...if you need some ideas for
motorsports related Gifts for the Holidays, you can visit his website at
www.lastopenroad.com. I bought four pairs of earrings (grand daughters).
It'll save
me a shopping trip.
