My straight pipe does the same thing--dumps at the ground with an
angle under the car. Some people say that can make the noise bounce
around, but I find it to be pretty quiet and I've never had a problem.
Most times i run a muffler though because i really don't need any more
hearing loss, and i don't want excessively loud noise around the
grandkids. I keep muffs on them, but still...
