The test for a dragging clutch (pilot bearing, etc.) is fairly easy :
Depress and hold the clutch; shift into 2nd (or any gear with synchromesh)
to stop the input shaft; then shift to neutral, wait a beat, and shift into
reverse. If it grinds at all, the clutch (etc.) is dragging.
