Some of you may know MGB driver Rich Larsen and his traveling mechanic / pal
Andy. Andy is the one with the white crewcut, Butch Bohunk vocabulary and
about 1,000 years of experience with making automobiles go. You just naturally
tend to listen to Andy when he offers an opinion about what you car is doing.
Well, this last race weekend at Blackhawk, Andy wandered over and stuck his
head under my hood and offered the opinion that my car was "tractoring". At
first, I thought it was just a variation on the usual
Triumph-motor-as-agricultural-implement joke. But he said something about it
again as we were cleaning up for the day, and I've been thinking about it
since.
I've never heard the word "tractoring" used in this way before. Anybody have
any idea what it means in this context?
Scott
