I ran for years with the vent fitting on the fuel cell plugged off. When
people would talk about a check valve, I thought that they were referring to th
e
rubber flapper in the fill pipe.
During annual tech. this year, it was pointed out to me that I didn't have a
vent line. I was asked how air would get into the tank to allow the fuel to
keep flowing. My answer was that I didn't know, but it seems to work. Maybe
the vacuum is relieved enough due to the fact that every time I come in off of
the track, I remove the fuel cell cap and check the fuel level with my
calibrated dipstick.
I probably should add a vent line. I assume that the normal suppliers
(Summit, Jegs, etc.) sell these check valves/vent line setups? Any suggestions
?
