To some degree, but particularly with older vintage groups like the VSCCA out
east they were ALWAYS vintage even before SCCA fell out of favor with some
racers. The older vintage groups were made up mostly of 'collectors' who had
old race cars (many historically significant) who wanted to do more with them
than polish them. They wanted an opportunity to drive them at speed. But as
we
all know...it is very difficult to 'only put it in a little'. It wasn't long
before vintage events became less a high speed parade and more a race.
