There's also a second SCCA region in Hawaii, the Big Island Region.

Right now they are essentially autocrossing, but I know they are working
with the developers of the new track.

All this talk about road racing circuits in Hawaii is redundant. I mean,
come on. Hawaii! That's a hell of tow.

Indeed Bill, it is! However, having been married to a girl from Hawaii for
more than 20 years (read: she has tolerated me that long) the likelihood of
my returning when we retire is great (particularly since I never wanted to
leave to begin with!). So you see, if I wish to continue racing for the
foreseeable future, I have a vested interest in the status of tracks (or
lack
thereof) in Hawaii. Realistically though, I guess my cars and I would be
better
off raced here in the mainland. The possibilities are, none the less,
intriguing.
Cheers!
