You can do a lot of experimenting with tire pressure to aid in using the two
types of tires, but don't expect anything good out of it. I tried it once
with the radials on the back of my TR-3 and figured I was lucky to get back to
the pits alive. All I wanted was to change the gear ratio a little with the
smaller radials.The oversteer was huge and adding 15 pounds of air helped a
lot, but then the rounded tread gave up on anything high speed. Not worth the
effort.

I am wrestling with a related issue right now. Two years ago I bought a set
of Goodyear Blue Streaks for my TR3, only to find the fit on the front, but
not on the rear. They've been on the shelf since.
This spring I decided I wanted to see if I could run them on the front,
where
they fit, and run different tires in the rear. In this case the rear tires
will be by another manufacture, and a different size. I have discussed this
with three different distributors, including SASCO and WOODMAN. All of them
say, while uncommon, there is no problem doing so, EXCEPT don't mix bias and
radial.
I've not tried this yet, but will be doing so shortly.
