Having raced Mid-America Motorplex I beg to disagree with your assessment of
that particular track.
What is true about MAM is that it is all combination corners. There is not a
single-turn corner in the place. One sets up Four, Nine sets up 14. Etc. I
love it for that driving challenge.
But it also has passing straights. The frontstraight going into 1 (a
90-right) is good. Then the middle straight going into 5-6, which requires a
hard braking. The chute out of that going to 7-8 is a place I've made the
race-winning pass. The "highway straight" going to 9-10 is a bit short, but
you use it as setup. Then the pit straight heading to 12 is another place
I've made the race-winning pass. (As you might guess, I've won two races
there).
And I would note, neither of those race-winning passes were just driving by
on the straight, both were done by braking into the corner and getting
inside the other guy. The one on the pit straight was extra fun as it goes
into a 3-turn sequence 12-13-14 and we were side by side through 12 (right)
and 13 (left) and then the radius of 14 (right) was what let me come out in
the lead. It took driving all three turns to complete the pass.
