A circle track publication did some dyno work with a project motor. It's a
355ci Chevy making 366hp @ 5500rpm. They ran three different oils. First they
used "premuim grade" mineral oil. They then used Mobil 1 and gained an avg. of
2hp throughout the whole curve (4000rpm-6500rpm). Last they used the Joe Gibbs
oil and gained an average of 3.1hp over Mobil 1 throughout the whole curve. All
this is with a pretty much "stock" motor. They did take time to point out that
it's hard to make a claim with only one engine and one dyno session and you
would need to test many motors to get a true idea of it's potency, but it's
still interesting information none-the-less.
