This is a note I sent to SOVERN members this morning. I'm forwarding it to
you in case there are any of you on the fence about coming to this race.
It's going to be great--the excitement and parties of a big event, with more
track time than even most club events.
If you are going to come and haven't sent your entry in, the late fee
started yesterday. But you can avoid the $100 late fee by sending an email
to Judy Buckingham at rebjrmd@ix.netcom.com <mailto:rebjrmd@ix.netcom.com>
to tell her you are coming, and then getting your entry mailed this weekend.
You can get the entry form at www.sovren.org <http://www.sovren.org>
By the way, notice that the Battle of Britain handicap race has been moved
to Sunday as the FEATURE RACE. Any closed wheel, British or British powered
car is qualified to run. You can win this race with ANY car, because the
handicap will depend on your best qualifying or race time prior to the BoB.
If you are driving an MG Magnette (yes, there really will be one!) you might
get TWO LAPS or more of head start, and you'll have a clear track. Faster
cars start from the grid on their time, but may get held up at the hot pit
exit if the track is not clear for their entry, and they'll be passing
people from lap one.
I've done this kind of race once before, and the hardest part was driving
while laughing so hard.
Hope to see a lot of you guys there.

Subject: Tentative Schedule for CRC, one last race to sponsor
Wow, folks. We have twenty one races sponsored. Thank you so much. Boys &
Girls Aid Society is a wonderful charity, you have good reason to be proud.
We actually had more sponsors than we had races listed--for a while I
thought we might need to name-sponsor the driver's meeting. Wouldn't that be
cool? The Mandatory Driver's meeting brought to you by Dick Buckingham! But
it turned out to be a good thing, because we discovered that we forgot an
entire set of races on Monday! Senior moment. What can I say. So we actually
have one race left: Group 4 Race #4. It would be nice to have them all
sponsored.
We also would like to have a sponsor for the Vintage fashion show and some
party sponsors. Same deal--$250. We'd like four party sponsors. Naturally
you'll be listed and mentioned. The fashion show is going to be very cool.
Rob Phillips and Suzy Snow are working very hard on it to make it
spectacular. We also expect to have some wonderful MC's for the evening and
a lot of media coverage. And we have a great band--Bingo Therapy. It's going
to be quite a night. You really want to come in vintage clothes, if you can
swing it. If you're anything like me it should be easy--the only part of my
wardrobe that isn't from the sixties are driver's shirts.
Here is the tentative schedule for the race. One qualifier, two practices
and four races--five if you do the Battle of Britain Handicap Race. Anyone
concerned about track time can stop worrying. My shoulders ache just looking
at this thing. For the truly afflicted, don't forget the Lotus club track
day on Friday.
