There was another FOT Triumph at the loooong race. I've been having
ignition problems (all season) and didn't get much track time. Just as I
was about to pack it in I noticed that the plugs were arcing to the head
when I revved the engine. Has anybody seen this? I've been using Champion
C57 and C59 forever and never had a problem. Champion changed the design
on these plugs and they are now called C57CX and C59CX, the old plugs are
no longer available. The CXs were in the car since June. So I put in a set
of NGKs and the ignition problem was solved. This after I rewired the car,
new kill and ignition switches, new battery, new grounds, new coil, new
plugs, points, con. cap, rotor, you name I did it. So I finally got to
race. I had to start dead last about 50th because I didn't qualify and was
up to 15th after a few laps turning 1:28s in heavy traffic when the engine
dies on the main straight. Turned out to be a broken rotor. My unplanned
plug chop showed perfect color. Even though I had a dnf it turn out to be
a very productive outing. It's great to have that sweet sounding 6 back.
Can't wait for next season.
