Not meaning to be picky but I think you mean "circumference" not
"diameter" in the passage quoted below. Circumference being the
measurement of the edge or ring of a circle, diameter being the measure
of a line drawn from edge to edge across the centre point.

unravel it to measure the diameter. You will want to cut the foil at the
exact length, but with a little more width (diameter) to allow the foil
to overlap at the seam. I went for > wide, and this turned out to
provide much more overlap than I would have liked. You might go for a
little less, but check your switch, the diameter could be different.
Just shoot for about a 1/16 overlap.
