The LT77 5 speed has proved to be pretty robust in off road use, and was fitted up to '94 models so they're fairly common. Keep the ATF changed at regular intervals. If someone needed a stronger box, move up to the R380: they bolt to the same motor, but their internals are quite a bit tougher. R380's were used in '95-on Discoverys. T5's out of S10's are cheaper, more plentiful, and can be adapted: but they're not British. Steve Hedke |
