At the runoffs, Tom Feller finished 2nd in a great battle with Adam Malley for
the victory in HP in his limited prep spitfire. During post race tech
inspection (which was a full tear down of the top 3 finishers OUCH $$$$) he
was found to have an illegal intake manifold. The infraction is based upon
grind marks on the in the ports of the manifold which "violate" that the
manifold must be stock except port matching within 1" of the flange and the
carb mount may be performed.
Every triumph manifold I have ever seen has grinding on the ID of the ports to
remove flash and Tom is not the sort that would cheat to win.
What I'm looking for is photos of untouched 1300cc Dual 1 1/4" SU manifolds
that either show or don't show grinding. We are trying to make a case to the
SCCA that some grinding was performed at the factory or some documentation
that shows grinding at the factory happened!
I'm guessing I will also need photos for the 1.5" su manifolds and the single
carb manifolds for the strombergs.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
