I'd use 20w50, but synthetics have a broader range to begin with--the
10w40 will probably be fine.

I do have a positive experience using Redline MT-90 in my gearbox. I
took my overdrive box out of a rusted out parts car, and was out of money
so the only inspection I did was to pull the cover and make sure the gears
weren't chipped. I decided to experiment and try the MT-90. It really has
worked well. The shifts are awesome, and I can up and down shift without
using the clutch. I was very afraid that the overdrive would slip with the
synthetic oil, but it never did. I had this transmission attached to a
warmed over engine that dynoed at 135 rear wheel hp. I specifically
remember a time when I forgot to turn off the OD (the last time I ever did
it) when I was running the car pretty hard; there was only a slight slip
when shifting from first to second @6,000 rpm...oops. I autocrossed the
car for a season and a half, and I drove it many miles on the street and
never had any problems with the tranny. I also ran Redline 10w40 in the
engine and did not lose any cam lobes or ! thrust washer clearance. I
should probably also note that I never sit at a stop light with the clutch
pressed. Is it the general consensus that the correct weight engine oil
should be 20w50 even if its Redline. The Redline tech support guys
recommended 10w40...what do you guys think??
