Well, there WAS once a bit of a Honda/Triumph connection, Joe!
Now here's what we could do:
1. Tim brings the Rotary Spit
2. Joe brings Tiny Tim Spitfire S2000
3. I bring the "Hardly Boys RaceSpit 4", which is still pretty much as it was
built in the mid- or late 1960s for GP SCCA production racing. Nicely
massaged 1147 (make a nice "street" motor nowadays), "genuine"(?) competition
springs front and rear along with camber compensator and Koni shocks...all
pretty much as per a certain Competition Preparation Manual and parts list,
first edition. The most radical updates since the early 1970s include a GT6
master brake cylinder and a MkIV all-synchro three-rail gearbox to send power
along to the welded 4.55:1 diff.
Anyway, we could do a back-to-back-to-back comparison of the three. Only
trouble is I'd have to figure out how to tow the RaceSpit there with a Herald
1200.... ;-)
I was fortunate enough to earn VTR National Convention autocross FTD trophies
twice in the RaceSpit: 1986 and 1989. But then someone started bringing this
hot autocross TR4 or that hot autocross Mk3 Spitfire, etc. It was fun,
though, being the "trendsetter"!

*Mrs Irrelevant: Oh, is it a jet?
*Man: Well, no ... It's not so much of a jet, it's more your, er,
Triumph Herald engine with wings.
