fot,
This is my first post, so I think I should probably introduce myself. Marty
Sukey nominated me to the list a few months ago, but I have been so busy at
school (Ohio Northern University) that I havn't had a chance to post anything
to the list. I am 18 years old and I have had my TR6 since 1999 when I drug it
home and proceeded to replace the entire chassis and engine. I got hooked on
racing about two years ago when the Sukeys convinced me that I should autocross
my TR6 at the TRF summer party. Since then I have competed in several SCCA Solo
II events, and I have done the first day of the Mid Ohio High performance
school.
My first ever question for the list is this; would a factory steel hard top
be helpful in stiffening up my TR6 with out being too much of a weight penalty?
I am making quite a few changes this winter and the hardtop was an idea that a
friend and I were throwing around. My car will be what most people would call a
race car with license plates, but FOT people would probably call a "street
car". I am replacing all the body panels with fiberglass, replacing the
suspension with poly bushings and carrera shocks, and putting an engine in it
that is pretty wild for a car that will see the street. I dont think that much
if any of the interior will be going back for this season, and I will probably
replace the dash assembly with carbon fiber (if my friend has enough time to
help me make it).
p.s. does anyone make a lexane windscreen for the TR6?
thanks for your input,
Ryan Miles
