I believe the answer to pushrod tubes was addressed here before.  Clean the
tubes to remove all oil residue, and then apply LocTite's whicking thread
sealer.  (A product made for locking threads of a bolt/nut that have already
been installed.)

But, yes, a spitfire version of the gasket is something I'd really like to do. I
pretty much have it designed as well at the TR 6...  It just takes a lot to get
from here to there and still be able to pay the rent.
