Arg. I've got to be careful, shipwright's is setting in. My intention
was to simply get the red Spit's motor back together, after losing a head
gasket at last season's IVR enduro. And maybe redoing the wiring. I should
have taken a photo of the maze of yellow wires I took out a couple days ago.
But last night as well as today my time at the shop was spent on various
cosmetic things, like welding in a small piece of steel to cover the hole
where the windshield frame would go if the car had one. The blob of body
filler that covered it previously cracked and fell out last season.
There's quite a few other such spots on the car as well. There's only
two weekends between now and the first IVR race on April 20th. And I still
have to do some serious clean up so the shop can be somewhat presentable
for Tinker Day on the 6th.
So we'll see what happens, if on say, April 18th I'm topping up the fluids
and loading the spares into the van, or if the red Spit is a stripped down tub
on jackstands getting a fresh paint job, refurbished suspension, ....
