I guess everything has happened to me at one time or another. I have had
the adjusting nut slowly tighten up and the spring then pull the jet up and
lean out one carb. This happened slowly so it took a couple or three laps
then it would just go flat in the top revs. Finally cut a piece of aluminum
and used that to wedge the adjusting nut position so the spring was
inactive. We found this out on the highway outside the racetrack after
about ten runs back and forth with me checking something different each run
after it happened. It was a revelation, both that I found the problem and
that the Highway Patrol didn't find us. Anyway that fixed the problem and it
ran great at the track.
