Hi all!
Brad and I just got back from the CVAR event at Texas World
Speedway in College Station -- what fun it was! Joe Alexander,
Jack Drews and Kent Howard came down with Joe's and Kent's cars
and Bob Kramer and Jeff Wilt were there with their cars plus Ed
Barnard stopped in Saturday to help his boss with the Caterham
they rent out.
Kent ran 7 20-minute practice sessions Friday and Joe, Kent, Bob
and Jeff each ran a practice/qualifying session and two races
Saturday and two races Sunday. The rain threatened each day and
wetted the track a bit at times, but most of the racing was done
on a drying or dry track.
Watching Joe and Bob dice it out with each other in Group 2 in
their red TR4's, and then watching Kent and Jeff do the same in
Group 4 in their 3's was great fun. They all started lower down
in their classes and moved up to respectable positions.
Bob's car's tractor heritage got the better of him coming into the
carousel on Sunday and he plowed quite a fine roostertail of dirt
right in front of us appreciative spectators (but got right back
onto the track and made his time up handily).
The weekend went exceptionally well for Triumphs, with the only
problems being Kent's snapping his dash-mounted overdrive switch
off in the on position and Bob's distributor clamp bolt got loose
and caused him to lose some power. Both problems were easily
remedied and the cars otherwise all ran flawlessly all weekend
long!
The Amici Triumph again!! Next year I will be running the CVAR
series as well, starting with the first event in March -- start
planning now to be there! The CVAR website is
http://www.corinthianvintagerace.com for more info. They are a
great group to run with!
Keep Triumphing,
Susan :)
