Jack, I bought my first set of Stahl headers in 1982 at the recommendation
of Dick Stockton (long time TR-4 racer from the Philadelphia area). They
were about $250 then and were the best that were available. Prior to that
I had been using the old factory competition (Tri-Y) headers and when Dick
ran my engine on his dyno, he could see a big difference with the Stahl
headers.

BTW - I took a quick look at the Stahl web site. I'm curious why you would
go for the Stahl headers (which I knew nothing about prior to your post),
when the Ken Gillanders carries the "Racetorations" Stainless steel one for
the same price. Is there a performance difference you are aware of, or do
the Stahl dealers discount off their $400 "list" price?
This is only information gathering and curiosity at this point, as I'm
still pretty far from a header on my TR3. My next step is to install
the TR4A "dual exhaust, with the long runner intake and a pair of
HS6's, all of which are sitting in my garage waiting for me to have
the time to prepare all of the pieces. Of course..... the benefits of
a header might be worth shelving that TR4A dual exhaust.
Thanks for your help,
Jack (anybody have some spare time and/or money?) Brooks
