That was just to make the British cars feel at home!
In the late 1980s they used to run a vintage event at the old GATEWAY circuit
near St. Louis. The Mississippi was flooding to a point where there was
standing water half way up through Turn Three. During one of the practice
sessions the Turn Three Corner Workers reported 'debris' on the track, and
that someone had 'lost a hose' in the middle of the turn. Later the report
was canceled. The 'hose had crawled away.'
