Clearly the problem is in the last line of your message--a sufficiency of
scotch in the evening will avoid these bothersome problems by giving you
enough of a headache so you won't care about a something as minor as a local
change in the laws of gravity, or the fact that your house appears to have
misplaced it's foundation.

Paul,
Please let me know if you've got the same problem in the Fens. When I got up
this morning and took my glass of water to the bathroom, I noticed there was
something odd about it. Normally, the water in the glass sits level - much
like the meniscus of a spirit level. Today, it was off centre and I noticed
the walk to the bathroom was slightly uphill. As I didn't go to the pub last
night and retired to my bed STONE COLD SOBER, I'm wondering it it's me or
something on a more national scale.
Cheers
John Mac
