OK, that should have gotten your attention, now
I just need a way to factor in some obligatory Triumph
angle to my 150+ ride around Daytona Int'l Speedway.
I've got it...the car I rode in was the Kyle Petty look
alike, #44 and we all know how famous #44 is to the
history of Triumphs... :-)
Anyway, while in Daytona on vacation,
my family gave me my birthday
present a few weeks early. Specifically, the Daytona
3 lap track tour in a NASCAR equivalent. We lapped
the 2.5 mile tri-oval at just under 59 seconds which
averages to 150+. The car was doing 6000 revs in the corners
and 6500 on the back straight (probably about 160+).
I must admit the sensation of speed was somewhat less that
I expected which only shows how relative it is to the
time, place and conditions. Regardless, it was quite
a trip and one I thouroughly enjoyed. If you get the
chance, spring for the bucks ($105) and just enjoy it. Sure
it was over in only a little over 3 minutes, but what a
rush.
Cheers,
Bill Sohl
