when we ran the IMSA program with the ex-group 44 gt6, we used a 2.5 engine.

bore, end float and some unique cross drilling along with careful assy. and we
regulary turned 6800 but that was it.  lanky at the group made the same comment,
they wil live to 6800 and make expensive noises at 6801.  since many of the IMSA
races were endurance events (we had the fastest tr to ever qualify at sebring on
the old 5.2 mile course - group 44 ran faster speed/time later on but the course
had been changed to the 4.6 mile configuration) we backed the redline down to
6200.  in sprint races for gtu cars, we would run the 6800 redline.  ted
