Hmm, this may have an effect on future VTR nationals. Well, one in particular.

Subject: Portland International Raceway Threatened by Amphitheater Proposal
Hello,
The use of Portland International Raceway as a venue for club racing is
currently being threatened.
Paul Allen, the owner of the Trailblazers NBA Basketball team, and his
Aegean Development Corporation are trying to build an 18,000-20,000
seat amphitheater smack dab in the middle of Portland International
Raceway.
Since Portland International Raceway is actually a City of Portland
park and it is used by thousands of people from around the world (and
many of you on these racing lists), you do not need to live here or be
a resident Portland to be adversely effected by this proposal.
On Thursday, December 17th, the Portland City Council will
hear testimony on the amphitheater proposal.
Please contact any or all of the members of the City Council and
express your objections to this proposal.
Please, take a few minutes and send the Portland City Council a well
reasoned letter... it does not have to be long, just let them know you
are opposed to the amphitheater being located at PIR and why.... Most
important, please be polite and respectful.
The mailing address for all City Council Members is:
City Hall
1211 SW 5th Avenue
Portland, OR 97204
Names, E-Mail addresses and phone numbers are:
Mayor Vera Katz (503) 823-4120 mayorkatz@ci.portland.or.us
