Hi Richard,

Sorry you could not make to Daytona. Neal told me something came
up at the last minute that dragged you elsewhere. Your write-up
of last years event is what convinced me to go this year.
Thanks, it sure was a great experience!

Your story of the Savannah race kinda tells the story about race
cars vs. sports cars. Race cars built with "killer, go-fast,
hand grenade" motors don't always finish the race much less the
whole weekend. Compared to those with milder tuned motors that
just keep plugging away race after race, all season. Some even
go for years, and then recylce their piston rings for even more
longevity!!!

It's neat to know someone who does it like they did in "zee ol
daze"; drive to the track, change tires, race, change tires and
drive home. I'm afraid I am one of those who started with a TR3A
that could be driven on the steet, and now has been so developed
that it has to be "drayed" to the track. I guess it's the ole
competitive edge in me that over-rides the vintage sports car
racing experience.

But who's to say what's the best kind of racing experience. I
know some guys who actually "like" working on their cars at the
track, getting all dirty and greasy and missing valuable (and
expensive) track time. It's not for me, but then who's to
judge. Thanks for your provocative and thought-provoking words.

Gotta go for now, time for another beard trim. Must keep that
streamlined appearance so I can go keep goin' faster!!!!

Vroom, vroom,

Jeff
