Gee, I still have the remains of The Rust Rocket by the side of my garage
at home. The plan was for this fellow I know to use the chassis and some
of the suspension for a kit car he wanted to build. Hmm....
Actually, perhaps the worst sort of example of this that I remember involved
Spitfires. I think it was at the Savannah convention, though about all I
remember from that one was working on a red TR3. The featured vehicle was
the Spitfire, as it was the 30th anniversary of that model. The day of the
show there were signs for all the models in the concours area. As usual,
many 3s, many 6s, a handful of 4s, and behind the "Spitfire Mk 1 & 2" and
"Spitfire Mk 3" signs there was nothing but empty grass.
