SAM TING HERE! FUEL LINES AND FIXTURES ARE SURE WORTH THINKING ABOUT.
Early last May, the rear SU fuel pot flooded, dumping gas on the exhaust
manifold on the Thunder Bolt on the pace lap at VSCDA's BLACKHAWK Test Day.
FIRE! I was finally racing a REALLY HOT car. I hit the kill switch, and
pulled off back into the pits (past turn four). Flames were coming out all
over. I grabed my fire extinguisher from off the roll bar, and from the
driver's seat, foot ball passed it to the people running up to the car. They
put the fire out. Over the next week we had a bonnet to repaint, lots of fuel
lines to replace, and a lot of clean up prior to the SVRA ROAD AMERICA EVENT.
We added a bunch of FUEL SYSTEM check items to our pre-session check list.
