This place was Autogear, Ltd. they claimed to be the TR
gearbox rebuild house for all the European companies. I
noticed that their prices seemed to be about 1/2 the price
across the board on all parts.
TRF's CARR (trans rebuild division) mechanic gave me the name
and number as a possible source for the Churchill rear main
bearing extraction tool. TRF does all its own trans. Apparently
VB gets its from this place and Moss Europe. It would seem
the pay these guys to do the work, and mark it up 100% to
sell it to us...
It would seem from the price list that you could send a
standard trans, have it rebuilt and converted to OD with a rebuilt
OD for less than the cost of a TRF trans rebuild only. Haven't
tried it yet. If someone whats to gamble a trans, I'll give
you the details, shipt it with a credit card number and let us
know what comes back!
