Beside the broken springs etc. also check if you have a smog or non smog
advance cam. Stamped 7.5 timing is 16 btdc, stamped 17.5 it's at TDC
(zero degrees)
I get a lot of cores with broken springs and also frozen weights. Is
the vacuum advance hose on the front carb or manifold vacuum?

If your distributor is all worn out, but you still want to stay with
points, I get some VERY nice cores once in a while. Since I only use
some of the parts, as long as the shaft is OK, I could swap a core for
yours, I'm just going to disassemble it anyway, so I may as well trash a
broken one

Finally got my car running.
I am having a heck of a time setting the timing. seems to run good about
1200 rpm but then timing goes way out. If I lower the rpm I can get the
timing in but engine runs rough. Any Clues
