FWIW
9000 miles x-country on a 1600 + 5 speed box
Positives - mileage - low engine rpm - cruise @ 75 @ 3K - unbreakable - decent
acceleration on 14 wheels (panasports)
Negatives - lacks some grunt on steep inclines and high altitude
Overall - would put stroker in to increase grunt while retaining
unbreakability - next project after front end
I'm happy

Agreed. Ran 1600's for 30 years and a couple of years ago bought a> 2000. Yep,
the 2000 power is perfect for a Roadster. Still think the> 1600 is magic
