I went through this problem years ago when restoring a Z, it's not easy.
Do search for "hazardous waste disposal" and your town/area, there is
usually a drop off center or certain days of the year that they'll
collect gasoline and other liquids.
For something as common as gasoline I was surprised at how hard it was
to do it safely, but all-in-all worth the effort. Nasty stuff when
it's outside of a gas tank.
