OK, guys, I'll re-send the embarrassing "message" so you will all understand
what happened. I meant to respond to Dan's "Oil Spin/Points Death" message,
but responded to Dave's reply to it instead. When I realized that I addressed
it to Dave, when I should have addressed it to Dan, I sent an apology...to
Dave, on list.
Then I sent the message (with correct name) to Dan, off list. Well, the
apology posted to the list, but the original message never did. Now I have (at
least) 2 Daves wondering what the heck I'm talking about.

Here is the original message, as sent...

"Dave,

You may have received tons of messages off list, and I don't know if this will
help or not, but I'm doing the same thing on a 1500 I bought but haven't
installed.

Are you spinning the oil pump with reverse on your drill? You should turn the
oil pump counter-clockwise. It takes a while for the oil to get to the tiny
ports on the valve train... a lot longer than I expected. I took the valve
cover off so I could get a good look-see. Don't plug the distributor oil tube,
just position it over the hole to lubricate your priming tool. I had to put a
piece of rubber tubing on the end of the tube to extend and keep it over the
hole. If you spin it too fast, oil will spill out the top... very messy. Keep
spinning that sucker and the oil should eventually get up there. I noticed
that it starts coming out on #4 first, then 3, 2 and lastly #1. On mine, #1
seem sluggish. I do not know if this is normal or not.

I hope this helps.
Patti ".

So, that's that. I'm sorry for all the confusion.

Does anyone else have experience with the use of the Tom Walter oil priming
 rod?
